Digital, customer-centric services from FinTechs increased competitive pressure on established financial institutions. For the client, this raised the question of how existing products could be combined with new digital services and how additional customer segments could be addressed using data.

To support this, 4C derived key information requirements from the business model, developed reporting mock-ups and consolidated relevant data sources in a central data warehouse. The new reporting approaches were tested with selected end users and then rolled out first to top management and later to operational units.

4C's Contribution

Information Logic

Key requirements derived from the business model and existing reports.

Reporting Concept

Design, content and functionality translated into testable mock-ups.

Data Foundation

Relevant data sources consolidated in a central data warehouse.

A financial services provider established a new company: a fully digital insurer. The aim was to develop products and services tailored to the expectations of digitally savvy customer groups.

4C supported the development of new insurance products from target group analysis through to early validation. Personas, creative workshops, the Business Model Canvas, SWOT analyses and prototyping helped structure and evaluate ideas and test them with the target group.

The result was two validated and market-ready product ideas, including calculated business cases and assessments of their potential. At the same time, the Lean Service Creation approach and agile methods became more firmly embedded in the company’s innovation work.

4C's Contribution

Target Group Understanding

Personas and target group analysis as the basis for new digital product and service ideas.

Idea Development

Creative workshops, trigger questions and the Business Model Canvas to structure new business models.

Validation

An airport operator was facing significant cost and efficiency pressures in ground services. Operational processes involving baggage handling, sorting and loading are particularly time-critical, labor-intensive and closely linked to the overall performance of airport operations.

4C supported the client in validating the use of XR technology in these processes through an MVP. Together with the relevant business units, objectives, responsibilities and milestones were defined and documented in a roadmap. Specific use cases in baggage handling and ground services processes were then analyzed, designed and translated into MVP development.

The MVP made it possible to assess the value XR could deliver in real-world operational processes. At the same time, the client built expertise in working with an emerging technology and gained a basis for deciding on the next implementation steps.

4C's Contribution

MVP Structure

Objectives, responsibilities and milestones defined with the relevant business units and documented in a roadmap.

XR Use Cases

Potential applications for sorting, loading and occupational safety in ground services processes were assessed.

Validation Basis

MVP developed to assess value, feasibility and potential next steps.

Following the acquisition by an investor, the group accounting function of a sanitary products manufacturer needed to become significantly more automated and integrated. Previously manual consolidation processes now had to meet new requirements arising from different accounting standards, multiple group levels and decentralized data uploads.

4C supported the development of harmonized structures within the consolidation system. This included mapping local charts of accounts to IFRS accounts, automating upload routines for different financial year structures, and implementing an investment register for HGB and IFRS.

In addition, automated PPA push-down entries were integrated into the legal entities, validation reports and control rules were implemented, and a standardized reporting process was established. This created an automated consolidation process across different hierarchy levels and subgroups, with greater transparency regarding the level at which entries are generated and the accounting standard under which they are recorded.

4C's Contribution

Harmonization

Group-wide standardized structures established for consolidation under IFRS.

Automation

Local charts of accounts mapped and decentralized upload routines automated for different financial year structures.

Validation and Reporting Processes

Validation reports, control rules and a standardized reporting process established.
